What we look for

  • 1. A passion for your subject or field

Having  a passion for your subject will always inspire others.  Students will leave your room with new skills and improved knowledge, but also with the desire to find out more.

  • 2. Excellent communication

The ability to successfully communicate with your students (and other adults working alongside you) will be core to your success as a teacher.  This happens orally and in written form so you must be adept at both.  Communication also involves being able to understand the signals a class or individual is giving you and respond in the most appropriate way.

  • 3. Have a desire to inspire

Curiosity and a desire to inspire a love of learning in others. As a Trust, we believe that all of our young people deserve an engaging education that inspires curiosity and a love of learning.  If successful, it will be your role to foster this every day.  The rewards are enormous, as seeing a student reach academic heights or develop a curiosity about your subject because of the work you have done with them is thrilling.

  • 4. Be curious about your own learning

Develop new skills by watching those more experienced colleagues around you, review current educational research and invest your time in working with your peers to develop inventive, creative and engaging new ways of delivering your subject.

  • 5. Resilience

Teaching can be tough, whilst immensely rewarding. Working with young people can provoke challenges that would not be experienced in many other occupations.
